Οι Motherfaster είναι μια μπάντα που προσφέρει απλόχερα βρώμικο heavy metal. Έχοντας ως βάση τους της Αθήνα, μιλούν στο RockGreece.gr για τις επιρροές τους, το ντεμπούτο album τους και τα σχέδιά τους…
Τι κρύβεται πίσω από το όνομα “Motherfaster”;
Δημήτρης: Άν σας πούμε δεν θα κρύβεται πλέον…
Ποιό είναι το κύριο στοιχείο του «βρώμικου» ήχου που όπως λέτε και εσείς πρεσβεύετε;
Βασίλης: Το κύριο στοιχείο δεν είναι ένα. Αρχικώς πρέπει να βγάλεις τα εισαγώγικα από τη λέξη βρώμικος, να δείς τη βρωμιά γύρω σου, μετά να έχεις κάτι δυνατό να δώσεις σε ρίφ και στίχο, που συνδυαστικά να δημιουργούν εικόνες στον ακροατή και όλο αυτό να είναι ανεπιτήδευτο και γνήσιο!
Δημήτρης: Η αυθεντικότητα.
Ποιές είναι οι βασικές σας επιρροές από συγκροτήματα της Ελλάδας και του εξωτερικού;
Βασίλης: Μπορώ να αρχίσω να γράφω τώρα και να σταματήσω 10 σελίδες παρακάτω, γιατι πραγματικά είναι αμέτρητες. Συνοπτικά θα μπορούσα να ξεκινήσω από τον Elvis, τον Tonny Iommi και τον Gary Moore και να καταλήξω στον King Diamond και τους Αsphyx.
Δημήτρης: Οι επιρροές μόνο υποσυνείδητα μπορεί να υπάρχουν από τον ξένο χώρο, γιατί όταν γράφουμε μουσική το κάνουμε αυθόρμητα. Ακούμε και οι 3 πάρα πολλά πράγματα από rockμέχρι black metal. Τώρα σε σχέση με τα ελληνικά συγκροτήματα, πέραν της εκτίμησης μας για πολλές ελληνικές μπάντες, αυτούς που ξεχωρίζω σαν επιρροή είναι οί Rotting Christ.
Πως προέκυψε η επιτυχία και αναγνωρισιμότητα του single σας “The Nymph Αnd Τhe God”;
Δημήτρης: Από την δύσκολη απλότητα της σύνθεσης.
Παρά το γεγονός ότι είστε ενεργοί από το 2011, το 2015 έμελλε να βρείτε την μουσική σας στέγη στην Final Touch. Πείτε μας δυο λόγια για αυτή την συνεργασία.
Παμίνος: Από το 2011 μέχρι το 2014 δεν ψάχναμε καν για εταιρία, καθώς δεν είχαμε στα χέρια μας κάποιο ηχογράφημα, πέρα από ένα παλιοdemo με 3 τραγούδια από πρόβα. Όταν το 2014 είχαμε πια το album έτοιμο, μιλήσαμε με όσους περισσότερους μπορούσαμε και καταλήξαμε στην final touch. Η συνεργασία μας παρότι είναι ακόμα νωρίς, είναι άψογη μέχρι τώρα. Το CD βγήκε ακόμα καλύτερο απο ότι το είχαμε φανταστεί και οι fans μπορούν να το βρουν σε όλα τα δισκοπωλεία!
Ποια είναι τα κύρια χαρακτηριστικά του ομότιτλου ντεμπούτου album σας που κυκλοφορήσατε φέτος;
Βασίλης: Tα κύρια χαρακτηριστικά του είναι ο γιγαντιαίος ήχος του, η απέριττη ερμηνεία των τραγουδιών και το γεγονός του ότι ηχογραφήθηκε απουσία μετρονόμου, πράγμα σπάνιο στις μέρες μας.
Παμίνος: Heavy as hell, straight to the point, extra dirty. Καταλαβαίνει κάποιος τι θα ακολουθήσει από την πρώτη νότα…
Σε τι στάδιο σας πετυχαίνουμε αυτό τον καιρό;
Παμίνος: Κάνουμε κάποια επιλεγμένα live, ελπίζουμε να βγούμε και εκτός Αθηνών μέσα στους επόμενους μήνες. Επίσης ετοιμάζουμε ένα live video από τοWreck Athens fest, που παίξαμε στις 20 Μαρτίου και θα είναι έτοιμο σύντομα. Τέλος σχεδιάζουμε τα γυρίσματα για το πρώτο μας video clip που θα γίνει για το τραγούδι “Jealously insane”.
Ποιά είναι τα επόμενα σχέδιά σας;
Παμίνος: Έχουμε ήδη κάποια νέα τραγούδια έτοιμα, οπότε όταν τελειώσουμε με την προώθηση του πρώτου δίσκου, θα ξεκινήσουμε τις διαδικασίες για τον δεύτερο.
Υπάρχουν στοιχεία στην ελληνική rock σκηνή που τα ξεχωρίζετε και σας αρέσουν; Υπάρχουν αντίστοιχα πράγματα τα οποία θα επιθυμούσατε να αλλάξουν;
Παμίνος: Η ελληνική rock και metal σκηνή είναι απο τις καλύτερες στον κόσμο πλέον. Απλά χρειάζεται περισσότερη έμπρακτη υποστήριξη από τον κόσμο.
Δημήτρης: Θα επιθυμούσα οι μπάντες που έχουν κάτι να πούν, να έχουν και την αντίστοιχη ευκαιρία να ακουστούν.
Έχετε κάποια προγραμματισμένα live στο επόμενο διάστημα;

To Metal Invader επικοινώνησε με τους Motherfaster, μία νέα heavy μπάντα, τα μέλη της οποίας κάθε άλλο παρά νέα είναι στο χώρο. Μιλήσαμε μαζί τους για τον –πολύ καλό- ντεμπούτο δίσκο τους, τις μελλοντικές τους κινήσεις και πολλά άλλα…. Enjoy!!!
– Πείτε μας λίγα λόγια για τους Motherfaster.
-Παμίνος: Οι Motherfaster είναι μία μπάντα με ένα πολύ απλό σκοπό, να παίξει straight to the point heavy metal, χωρίς πολλά-πολλά και η μουσική και οι στίχοι να είναι, ξέρεις, βρώμικες ιστορίες από όλα τα μήκη και πλάτη του πλανήτη.
– Έχετε τα ίδια μουσικά ακούσματα ή ο κάθε ένας ακούει διαφορετικά είδη μουσικής;
-Παμίνος: Κοίτα, να σου πω δεν έχουμε και ιδιαίτερες διαφορές γιατί είμαστε και οι τρεις από το σχολείο μαζί και παίζουμε, ακούμε, πάμε σε συναυλίες κτλπ… Να σου πω ότι εγώ και ο κιθαρίστας ο Βασίλης είμαστε αδέρφια…
– Ωπ, δεν το είχα υπόψη μου αυτό…..
-Παμίνος: Δεν το πολυ – διαφημίζουμε (γέλια)… και ο Μήτσος, ο ντράμερ, είναι συμμαθητής μας από το σχολείο, οπότε είχαμε μεγαλώσει και οι τρείς μαζί. Μπορεί ο ένας να ακούει λίγο παραπάνω black metal, ο άλλος λίγο παραπάνω death metal, αλλά όλοι πάνω κάτω τα ίδια ακούμε…
– Πάμε στον καινούριο σας δίσκο. Τι απεικονίζει, τελικά, το εξώφυλλό σας; Πώς σας ήρθε η ιδέα για αυτό;
-Παμίνος: Τώρα πάλι εγώ θα απαντήσω, γιατί εμένα μου ήρθε η ιδέα… Όταν ήμασταν στη διαδικασία ηχογράφησης δεν είχαμε κάτι στάνταρ για εξώφυλλο. Τη μέρα που το συζητάγαμε πέρασα από κάπου και είδα αυτό το σχέδιο μπροστά μου, ξέρεις….. την ανατομία των αναπαραγωγικών οργάνων της γυναίκας και μου ήρθε αυτό σαν φλας, αντί για τις ωοθήκες να έχουμε αυγά και αντί για σάλπιγγες φίδια κτλ… και βρήκαμε ένα παιδί που μπορούσε να το κάνει, γιατί κανένας από μας δε ζωγραφίζει και του είπαμε για τη δουλειά μας και βγήκε αυτό που είδες.
– Το άλμπουμ είναι self–released ή έχετε υπογράψει κάπου;
– Βασίλης: Έχουμε υπογράψει με το Final Touch label του Μίλτου Καρατζά και ο δίσκος θα έχει τη διανομή μέσω της Cobalt music. Όλα έγιναν «σφαίρα» και τα ανακοινώσαμε μέσα σε ένα μήνα.
– Black Label Society με τον Ozzy στα φωνητικά. Κατά διαστήματα αυτό μου ερχόταν στο μυαλό ακούγοντας το δίσκο σας. Τι λέτε;
-Παμίνος: Δε νομίζω… εννοείται ότι γουστάρουμε πάρα πολύ και τον Ozzy και τους Black Label, αλλά γενικά εγώ δεν είμαι φαν της περιγραφής ενός συγκροτήματος ή ενός δίσκου με λόγια… βέβαια μερικές φορές είναι απαραίτητο και δεν μπορεί να γίνει αλλιώς. Ίσως να μπορεί να περιγράψει μερικά δευτερόλεπτα κάποιου κομματιού, όχι γενικά…
– Πώς πάει ο καινούριος δίσκος; Τι ανταπόκριση βλέπετε από το κοινό και τον τύπο;
-Παμίνος: Από τον κόσμο δεν έχουμε ακόμα άμεση ανταπόκριση, γιατί δεν τον έχουν ακούσει πάρα πολύ, καθώς βγήκε τη Δευτέρα πριν μία βδομάδα (σ.σ. 24/02). Ολόκληρο το δίσκο τον έχουν ακούσει κυρίως τα περιοδικά και οι αντιδράσεις είναι πάρα πολύ καλές και τα σχόλια πάρα πολύ καλά.
– Η μουσική και οι στίχοι σας παραπέμπουν σε “sex booze and rock ‘n’ roll” καταστάσεις. Η έμπνευσή σας είναι βιωματική; Πώς ενσωματώνετε τους στίχους σε ένα τραγούδι;
– Παμίνος: Όχι πάντα από προσωπικές εμπειρίες. Και από βιώματα προσωπικά ή από βιώματα άλλων. Κοιτάμε πάντοτε η ιδέα να μας κάθεται καλά και στο τραγούδι. Ξέρεις, ότι ταιριάζει ο ρυθμός του τραγουδιού, το ριφφ, στο θέμα που θέλουμε να αφηγηθούμε.
– Έχετε κάποιο συγκεκριμένο τελετουργικό για τη σύνθεση των κομματιών και των στίχων;
– Παμίνος: Όχι απαραίτητα. Δεν υπάρχει στάνταρ διαδικασία. Την πρώτη φορά που ξεκινήσαμε να κάνουμε την μπάντα μπήκαμε για πλάκα στο στούντιο και οι τρεις μαζί και τα δύο πρώτα κομμάτια που έχουμε στο δίσκο τα παίξαμε στο έτσι, εκεί, στην πρόβα. Στην ουσία τα κομμάτια γραφτήκαν εκεί στην πρόβα… Τώρα έχουμε και μερικά καινούρια κομμάτια, άλλα τα γράφει ο Βασίλης, άλλα τα γράφω εγώ, ο Δημήτρης μας έχει φέρει κάτι στίχους , τίτλους, ιδέες, διάφορα… Όπως μας κάτσει, απλά όταν κάτι ακούγεται ωραίο το κρατάμε.
– Έχετε δηλαδή ήδη καινούριο υλικό;
– Βασίλης: Υπάρχει αρκετό υλικό, γιατί ο δίσκος που άκουσες τώρα έχει ηχογραφηθεί ήδη εδώ και ένα χρόνο πάνω κάτω. Γενικά είμαστε και άτομα που δε σταματάνε τη σύνθεση καθόλου, συνθέτουμε οπουδήποτε. Ήδη είμαστε σε μία φάση που έχουμε μαζέψει παραπάνω υλικό από ότι θα χρειαζόμασταν για τον επόμενο δίσκο.
– Εκτός από τους Motherfaster συμμετείχατε και σε πολλά άλλα συγκροτήματα. Στην παρούσα φάση τι γίνεται;
– Βασίλης: Οι τρεις μας έχουμε βρεθεί σε πάρα πολλά project. Ξεκινώντας από τους After Dusk, που είναι και η πιο παλιά μας δουλειά, από το 1998. Και οι τρεις από τους Motherfaster είναι και στους After Dusk. Πάλι με το ίδιο concept βγάλαμε με το Δημήτρη και τον Παμίνο πριν τρία-τέσσερα χρόνια το “ Εν τάφω”, μία black metal δουλειά. Πάλι οι τρεις μας είχαμε βγάλει δύο δουλειές με τους Dominate που παίζαμε death metal και είχαμε κάνει και κάποιες συναυλίες από το 2005 μέχρι το 2007, οπότε και σταματήσαμε να παίζουμε live. Τώρα οι δύο μας μπάντες είναι οι Motherfaster και οι After Dusk. Δεν έχουμε άμεσα σχέδια για το μέλλον για κάτι άλλο, γιατί δεν έχουμε και χρόνο, οι δύο μπάντες είναι υπεραρκετές.
– Τι έχετε στο πρόγραμμα από ζωντανές εμφανίσεις;
– Βασίλης: Στο άμεσο μέλλον, θα συμμετάσχουμε στις 20 του Μάρτη στο τριήμερο φεστιβάλ heavy metal που γίνεται στο Κύτταρο: Athens Wreck Festival. Με φοβερές μπάντες μέσα, όπως Disharmony, Parthian Shot και διάφορες άλλες πολύ σημαντικές και δυνατές. Για μετά, θα αρχίσουμε να σχεδιάζουμε ένα tour τις επόμενες μέρες, εδώ τριγύρω στον ελληνικό χώρο προς τα παρόν και βλέπουμε…
– Υπάρχει κάποιο live που σας έμεινε αξέχαστο; Κάποια μπάντα που να έχετε δεθεί παραπάνω;
– Βασίλης: Δεν μπορώ να σου πω κάτι, ίσως να αδικήσουμε κάποια. Μπορώ να σου πω δέκα μπάντες που μου έρχονται στο μυαλό έτσι…
– Ήρθε η ώρα για την κλασσική ερώτηση σχετικά με την ελληνική σκηνή. Υπάρχει μία διάχυτη αισιοδοξία. Τη συμμερίζεστε;
– Βασίλης: Εγώ προσωπικά τη συμμερίζομαι. Γενικά, τα σταριλίκια και τα βεντετιλίκια του παρελθόντος έχουν εκλείψει, δηλαδή δεν τα βλέπεις συχνά. Μία μπάντα σε μία χρονιά θα παίξει μαζί με δέκα-δεκαπέντε μπάντες. Δε βλέπεις αυτό που γινόταν παλιά, να τσακωνόμαστε όλοι με όλους. Εμείς, γενικά, δεν είχαμε τέτοια θέματα στο παρελθόν, γιατί δεν ασχολούμασταν με τέτοια πράγματα, αλλά πλέον δεν το βλέπουμε στα live, οπότε αυτό είναι το πρώτο πολύ καλό. Άμα ξεκινήσει λίγο και ο χώρος να υποστηρίζει τις μπάντες λίγο πιο δυνατά και όχι με like και share μόνο. Βασικά αυτό είναι που χρειάζονται όλες οι μπάντες αυτή τη στιγμή… Σκέψου, δηλαδή, ότι μία μπάντα ελληνική που μπορεί να μην τα πηγαίνει καλά οικονομικά ή οτιδήποτε το μόνο που χρειάζεται είναι η ανταπόκριση από τον κόσμο. Να πάνε σε κανένα live και να πάρουνε κανένα CD! Δεν είναι κάτι το ιδιαίτερο, απλά πρέπει όλοι να το κάνουνε!
– Πώς μπορεί κάποιος να επικοινωνήσει με την μπάντα και να αποκτήσει υλικό σας;

For some very strange reason, I was reluctant to write a review on this disc. I was afraid to push the “play” button. I didn’t know what to expect. A name based on a pun, eccentricity on the cover. You know, I had this feeling you get moments before you do something you’re not sure of, but you simultaneously want to be proven wrong for your ostensibly poor choice. On the other hand, said “What if it actually IS good and I waste my time faffing around.” I hit play. That was it. Doom.
Motherfaster are three lads from Athens, that even though they’ve been together since 2011, their debut record came out just in 2014. Paminos, Bill and Jim, who fill the shoes of singer / bassist, guitarist and drummer respectively, bring us a 9 – tracks record with compositions that remind you of something, but on the other side of the coin are so unique and special. It is a production of Motherfaster themselves, while mixing and mastering was George Emmanuel’s work.
The album begins with an instrumental track called “Not a Good Idea”, pacing through doom trails both quick and slow, with solos that give you goosebumps; Portends the style of the rest of the album. “A Bad Idea” comes next, a combination of heavy metal with doom and southern tunes. Although they state that their music heavy metal, the sound overall is much darker than that, like cement plates falling unto a glass front. There is a change in vocals in “The Nymph and the God”; Mr. Paminos voice becomes clearer. The solo and in general the sound of the guitar (in my ears) seems to have changed, imperceptibly, smoothly, while keeping character. In “Twenty Four Seven” we have different colors and vibrations, catchy sounds and perhaps the ideal piece to gain airtime. It has this quality that no other pieces of the genre have; generally it could be a radio success easily. Afterwards “Tunes of Doom” is full of a Black Sabbath feeling and a gentle touch of Black Label Society. “Jealously Insane” increases the speed with faster playing, full of energy, with a hefty bonus riff that works as an outro simultaneously. Next stop “Mirrors of Insanity” and “Red Lights” follow the same pattern with mid – tempo dark guitars. The album closes with “Royal Treatment”, a Judas Priest – like track with southern influences, completing the circle of the album in the best possible way. Lyrically, “Motherfaster” is not intended neither for sweethearts, nor sensitive souls, nor children of the church. As they reveal themselves, they talk about drug abuse, sex, violence, murder, an extreme mafia mobster, a guy who falls in love with a prostitute, a maniac rapist; all beautiful and delicate.
I highly recommend listening to “Motherfaster”, as it sounds different from other releases of the genre and those three musicians know exactly what they are doing. There is no way you won’t be satisfied. Even if it’s a Greek production, it has nothing to envy from the bands abroad.
An absolute motherfaster! (Album review from WMD Studios)
Well, whoever holds the opinion that ‘Rock is Dead’ should face the Motherfaster!
The above statement is a light in the dark for all lovers of heavy and pounding sounds of ‘Heavy Metal’ and Rock: from those who have had cut down their locks and cried in the night hearing Justin Biebers’ being played over and over on the radio, to those who have sold their soul and taken the distortion pedals out of the effect’s chain –to produced cleaner/lighter sounds- just to feed their (Sunday School going) kids…
Ironically, Motherfasters is producing the darkest music (in their genre) that I have heard in the contemporary acts so far. Their menacingly corrupting songs include tales of a wide range of insane realities: from topics like drug-sex-abuse to serial-rapists and laments-of and about-gods to underworld-gangsters.
Yeah, not the stuff for Sunday Schools…
Motherfaster is: a three piece ‘Rock Machine’, driven by the Ozzy influenced vocal antics of Paminos (who also holds the Bass guitar) with Bill fanatically rendering riffs after riffs; that could put smiles on Toni Iommi’s face, and then they have Jim thrashing drums -while keeping the trio steady at the same time. The trio is (surprisingly) from Athens, Greece. These three got together in the fall of 2011, and after some initial experiments (and around a dozen gigs during 2012, 2013) they took the applause of their fans seriously, and conjured up a studio album (March 2014).
In November 2014 they released the first single ‘The nymph and the god’ which was featured in the compilation CD Fear Candy No 138, that comes with Terrorizer magazine (Issue 254) along with some other existing bands.
It is needless to say, but the moment you play Motherfaster, the first thought that hits you is: “Oh my god, this is the rebirth of Metal…”
If I hadn’t been keeping an eye on the aging monsters of Black Sabbath, I would have mistaken Motherfaster for their pseudo name. Motherfaster has got the same musical chemistry going, only with a refreshed and original zeal.
Their sound ranges from Hard (Blues oriented) Rock to Heavy Metal, very much into pioneer’s style, and the feel of it tells about the varying influences of Sabbath, Pantera, Judas Priest and even Black Label Society at times.
My favorite pick is 24/7 (the song about Mafia Guy) with its in-your-face attitude. So far Bill has impressed with his guitar chops, but I would love to hear him using less takes/layers during guitar solos.
In conclusion, Motherfaster gets thumbs up from me; with a middle finger attached to it…

Hey guys! Welcome to Art Rockin’ Magazine! Could you please introduce Motherfaster and its members for our readers?
Paminos: Motherfaster is a three piece heavy metal band. I sing and play the bass, Bill plays the guitar and Jim is the drummer. The music is “straight in your face” and the lyrics tell all the kinds of dirty stories.
What on earth (or the hell) does Motherfaster mean?!
Jim: It doesn’t really mean something and if you over think about it, you can give many explanations. It’s just as cool as it sounds.
What you regard as your influences?
Bill: Tony Iommi is the main reason I play guitar and make music, Randy Rhoads is a huge influence for me, also Dimebag Darrell who is the most powerfull – kick ass guitar player that ever existed for me. Gary Moore, Rory Gallagher, Chuck Shuldiner, Andy la Rocque, Glen Tipton, Adrian Smith, Criss Oliva, Paul Queen and a lot more…
Paminos: Most of the music between Black Sabbath, Alice Cooper and black metal bands like Rotting Christ, Cradle of Filth.
Jim: Asphyx and Manowar!
How you obtained such clear sounding guitars in recording process? I am asking ‘cause I am guitarist myself and I know it IS clear!
Bill: I did use a 100w all tube amp with a 4×12 speaker cab and two sm57’s. Before that I used an overdrive pedal, I made myself, to boost the amp a little bit more. The amp’s master volume was set high enough, ’cause I like the feel of natural overdrive, the power tubes produce in high volumes.
Could you explain today Athens heavy metal music scene to our readers?
Paminos: I think Athens and Greece in general have a great level of quality in the metal scene. You can hear really great metal and rock music from all genres.
Do you plan concerts outside Greece? How you intend to obtain this plan?
Paminos: We want to set up some European live dates, but we focus on the release of the album first! After that, we’ll get all the help we can, from our friends in the scene, to make that happen.
Motherfaster’s debut album cover is pretty cool! Who has designed it and what are the ideas behind it?
Paminos: The idea was mine. When we were recording the album, I saw an illustration of the female reproductive organs and thought it would make a great cover if we kept the main shape of it and do some arrangements. The person that made it is called John Nazos. He is a great graffity artist and a very nice guy!
I see you mostly have had gigs in Athens? Do you intend to expand your touring geographically?
Bill: It would be a dream come true for us to tour anywhere outside the country! It is a big honor for me to be invited somewhere where people give a fuck about my music!
What is the theme in your lyrics? How you write them?
Jim: In collaboration with Paminos we track down some of the dirtiest and most interesting stories we have experienced ourselves or heard from others.
What is your composition routine? Do the band members contribute in composition or it is all written by one person?
Bill: We don’t have a specific composition method for sure! Half of the music in the record is written by me and the other half by my brother! We usually compose like making a puzzle, I have my riffs, Paminos has his own and we combine them together. In some other cases me or Pam compose a song entirely by ourselves and when it is done, we make the final touches together.
What are your thoughts on mainstream music? How you think you could obtain that locally and globally?
Bill: I think that mainstream music has an expiration date, like all products have, and has nothing to do with Motherfaster. What I mean is that someone who makes mainstream music, starts compromised to do something that pays off. On the other hand when we compose something, the only criteria we have is to give a kick ass tune to ourselves and every other metalhead who happens to like it. We judge our music like music fans that we are. The only thing we try to obtain, is to reach the people who love Motherfaster and they don’t know that yet, locally and globally!
Where our readers can buy your music?
Paminos: Right now we are in the process of finding a label to release the album, so everyone has to be patient for a couple of months. Stay tuned to motherfaster.com, or our social pages and we’re gonna have some news soon…

1. Hello! How are you? How are things in the MOTHERFASTER camp at the moment?
Bill: We are great! Rehearsing like always, planning to release the record the best way possible and composing new stuff all the time.
2. I would like to know when the idea of creating MOTHERFASTER started to grow in you. What exactly motivated you or inspired you to create MOTHERFASTER?
Paminos: Jim (drums) wanted to go for a jam session just the three of us. We went to the studio just for the hell of it and we ended up writing automatically two songs in ten minutes. Also the sound and the feel of it all was different from anything we had done so far and so we decided to go for it.
3. The sound of your band is not something that we are used to listening in the Greek heavy metal scene. So, I would like from you to describe your sound to people who will read this interview and also tell us which your inspirations are.
Jim: The MOTHERFASTER sound is best described as a dinosaur riot!
Bill: I always liked the way rehearsals sound and I wanted to bring that in the record. When you press the play button you can feel you are standing next to us!
Paminos: It’s always difficult to describe the sound with words. If you ask ten people what it sounds like, you’ll get ten different answers. The best thing is to check it out for yourself! Especially when it is just a click on the computer or phone or whatever you’re using! That’s what I do when somebody tells me of a band I don’t know anyway.
4. Which is or are according to you the elements in the music of MOTHERFASTER that make your sound distinguishable?
Paminos: I could tell you about amplifiers, guitars, snares and shit, but the three elements that make the sound distinguishable are Pam, Bill and Jim. If you take one away, the sound will not be there.
5. Two of the band members are also members of the band AFTER DUSK. How does this affect your participation in both bands? Can we say that MOTHERFASTER is a side project?
Paminos: It started as a side project, but it turned out to be a full time band like AFTER DUSK. It doesn’t affect mine or Bill’s participation in either band, we just have to go for rehearsals twice as much, but that’s it.
6. By the way how did you come up with the name MOTHERFASTER? What does it mean to you?
Jim: It’s my fault. Paminos thought we should call the band MOTHERFUCKER, but it was missing something. After a couple of hours and a bottle of Vodka I came up with the name!
Paminos: It’s the coolest band name I’ve ever heard. I remember Jim texted me and when I read the word MOTHERFASTER I smiled, run to Bill and said: The name of the band is MOTHERFASTER!
7. I am always interested in the lyrics and from the little I understood, I think that you have some very interesting ones. So, who writes them, what inspires you to write them and finally can you give us some hints of the lyrical theme of each song that you have included in your album?
Paminos: Me and Jim write the lyrics. Sometimes alone, other times together. As far as inspiration goes it has to be something dirty to match the vibe of the song. Most of the times I leave the title of the song for Jim to decide, because he is great at it! The first song is an introduction to the album and has no lyrics. The second song is about a drug – sex abuse situation that ends up in murder. The third entitled “The Nymph and the God” is a parallelism between an ancient Greek myth and a modern day situation – a bad love story. The fourth called “Twenty Four Seven” is about a bad ass mafia guy. Then there is “Tunes of Doom” about imposing religious fear on children. “Jealously Insane” is exactly what it sounds like… We will not tell you about “Mirrors of Sanity”; it’s up to you what it means… “Red Lights” is about a guy that fell in love with a whore and “The Royal Treatment” is about a serial rapist that gets it from his last victim. Happy, delightful stories!
8. I know that you are still searching for a label to release your record. Have you had any offerings so far? What do you want from a label to offer you in order to make a deal?
Paminos: Well, we have been searching for a couple of months since the album was ready and we have some proposals, but we cannot discuss them. Hopefully we will have some good news on this soon. What we want is to get heard by the people that will dig what we are playing. That’s the big bet.
9. In case you don’t find any label, will you release the album on your own?
Paminos: Yes we would, but we will probably have a label.
10. Since we have mentioned AFTER DUSK before. I would like to know if you have any new material ready and when we should expect your new album.
Bill: We have many new songs and we are trying to figure out which are going to be in the album. It’s not going to be ready before a year and a half from now. What is more important for AFTER DUSK now, is that we are going to mix “The Devil Got His Soul” again. The new mix by Jeffro (the guy that mixed the MOTHERFASTER album) is far better than the old mix (the one you have heard) which was made by us. That way we will close this chapter and continue with the new album.
11. From the reviews that you got so far which is the biggest compliment that you have received? Is there something common that every reviewer underlines for your music?
Bill: The biggest compliment is that the reviewers exclude us from the majority of the other bands they listen to every day. Also they are very impressed by the simplicity, yet fullness of our sound.
Paminos: Yes, the fact that we have a signature sound. You play a song and you know who it is before the vocals come in.

Album review @ Behind the veil
I think that most of you that check my site have already realized that I am fan of the traditional metal sound and I will write this review from the point of view of a traditional metal fan. Through the years that I write for this site I have listened to many bands that try to marry the classic with the modern metal sound and actually most of them have failed to impress me.
There are, though, a few golden exceptions to this rule and I am happy to see that one of these exceptions are the Greeks MOTHERFASTER. In their debut album they present a sound that is rooted in the 70’s and 80’s metal sound and yet they have a modern production and don’t hesitate to use some grooves when needed. I think that their influences can be found in such bands like BLACK SABBATH (with Ozzy), Ozzy Osbourne and of course BLACK LABEL SOCIETY. There are, however, moments where they add a rock ‘n’ roll element to their sound that brings to mind good old MOTORHEAD and such an example is the track with the title “Jealously Insane”. In my opinion MOTHERFASTER introduce themselves in a very impressive way with their debut album which is characterized by inspiration, fantasy and passion. Hope they continue this way in the future too…
