WTF? (Biography)

Motherfaster is a Greek heavy metal band formed in Athens. They are known for their distinctive sound that combines classic heavy metal influences with a modern edge and a touch of dark humor. They have made a name for themselves in the metal scene with their riff-driven compositions, powerful performances, and an unmistakable sense of creativity.

The band was conceived in late 2011 after a jam session among its three members: Paminos (vocals and bass), Bill (guitar), and Jim (drums). Their mission has been to channel the grittiest aspects of their creativity into what they describe as “audio insult.”

Between 2012 and 2013, Motherfaster performed several gigs, building a local following. Responding to demand, they entered the studio in early 2014 to record their self-titled debut album. In November 2014, Terrorizer magazine featured their first single, “The Nymph and the God,” on their Fear Candy compilation CD (Issue 254), alongside tracks from legendary metal bands Exodus and Obituary. They released the full album on February 24, 2015.

In the summer of 2016, the band released a cover of Impaled Nazarene’s “Blood Is Thicker Than Water,” showcasing their ability to reinterpret classic black metal tracks.

Motherfaster returned in 2019 with their second album, Slower Father. While the title hinted at the band’s characteristic humor, the album represented a more mature and evolved approach to songwriting. Released on December 2, 2019, the album comprises nine tracks that blend heavy metal and hard rock, pushing the band’s signature sound to new levels of grit and intensity. Slower Father received many positive reviews, with Metal Hammer magazine stating, “These songs deserve international recognition, one by one!”

On January 25, 2020, Motherfaster opened for the renowned Greek metal band Rotting Christ in Athens, marking a significant milestone in their live performance history. During the subsequent lockdowns, they recorded a cover of Fleetwood Mac’s “The Green Manalishi (With the Two Pronged Crown),” further diversifying their repertoire.

In 2022 and 2023, the band continued to release new material, including a cover of “Anvil of Crom” and several original singles such as “Zombies in the Disco,” “Psycobach,” “Fumaroles,” and “Super-I.” They released their latest single, “Ain’t No Stallion” on July 14, 2023.
